About the Recipe

Delicious! Large cookies with soft centers and crisp edges, everyone loves them! Good cookie to use for ice cream sandwich!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt (reduce to a single big pinch if using salted butter

  • 1/2 cup room-temperature butter (salted or unsalted)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (you can use all regular sugar if you don't have brown on hand)

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 tsp vanilla (optional)

  • 2 cups chocolate chips or 1 full 'bakers' bar chopped up. (I like 'German Sweet' bakers chocolate bars. You can find them in the baking isle of the grocery store)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350!

  2. In a bowl or stand mixer, mix your butter and sugars until well combined. Its very important you do this first and not after the flour or it wont come together well.

  3. Add the remaining ingredients besides the chocolate and mix until just combined. Then drop in the chocolate chips and fold them in till evenly distributed.

  4. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and use a large spoon or scoop to form dough balls, I like to roll them in my hands quickly to form a perfect round shape.

  5. Bake at 350 for 15-18 minutes till the edges are just browned. When you pull out of the oven they should still look soft, as they cool they'll set up. Serve warm with milk or ice cream!
